Rollforming Zero Harm Target?

Why I disagree with ZERO HARM!

Mining Man (Jamie Ross) has more than a decade of operational and leadership roles in mining operations throughout Australia, the United States, and China. He's a mining engineer by qualification, and has worked in operational, technical and management positions, with the majority of experience in underground coal mining.

This is Part 1 of a two part video where the Mining Man explains why he disagrees with Zero Harm! This presentation is easy to follow and Jamie (even through he is an engineer) has made his points very easy to understand and is one of the better Risk Management, Safety type videos available! The simple fact that trying to eliminate all harm is impossible - paper cuts etc - quite entertaining and very relevant to the roofing and rollforming industry!

You will have to watch Part 2 on his website at The Mining Man Website .

Now onto risk management - how does this following article equate to matters discussed above?

Fire at BlueScope Steel.

A small fire was put out by staff  at Bluescope Steel's Port Kembla plant on Saturday about 6am. Smoke was detected coming from an underground cable duct at the hot strip mill at about 6am.
Nine employees evacuated before fire crews arrived.
A spokesman for Bluescope said firefighters were called as a precaution.
“A smouldering cable was identified as the source and extinguished shortly after by an employee. All employees are safe."
It is believed damage was limited to the cable and supporting tray and production at the mill will resume later today. Investigations into the cause of the fire continue

Just what BlueScope needs right now with their end of year reports due!
